Here you will find a random collection of sayings, quotes and tips that I've either found inspirational, helpful or humorous in the recording studio--and sometimes in everyday life.  I'm always looking for new ones.  If you would like to send me a quote to use here I'll make sure that you are credited.

Recording Tips
• RECORD EVERYTHING:  Even it's a rehearsal or you're just setting levels.
It's a great feeling when someone asks "did you take that by any chance?" and you can say "yes!"

• If a singer is having pitch problems in the studio, suggest altering their cue mix.  Start by changing the overall level (usually by making it softer).  Then try adjusting only their vocal and reverb levels (less is more on the 'verb).  If that doesn't help, try thinning out the mix.  Perhaps all they need is the rhythm section?  Experiment.

• The most important part of mixing is tracking

• When in doubt, leave it out

• MONITOR SOFTLY WHEN RECORDING VOCALS:  It's easier to hear if the singer is sharp or flat
